Liberate - “A Global Gathering to End Slavery”
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organization partnering with local justice systems to end violence against people living in poverty. After 20 years of fighting for freedom, IJM wanted to celebrate their wins with a momentous gathering— of 5,000 attendees, with 1,000 of those being global IJM staff from around the world. The events team was tasked with creating an experience shedding light on the complex realities of the work of justice while still leaning into a celebration of freedom.
On-Site
As the person responsible for culling content and leading on all printed deliverables and experiential elements, it was a joy to watch our attendees immerse themselves through the tangible elements of the event. All those who attended received a tote bag that included a 15-page program booklet, informational literature from our sponsors and partners, as well as a lanyard and name tag. The venue was also transformed into a celebration of our success and partnerships with signage, experiential elements, a fair trade market and breakout sessions.
Content Development
In preparation for the multiple plenary sessions, I worked closely alongside teams and survivors from Ghana, Kenya, South Asia, the Philippines and our founder and president to gather content and assist with speech development and on-site speech prep.
Experience Design
Liberate was a 20-year celebration of IJM rescuing, restoring, and fighting for the rights of others. I took on the task of bringing the organization's history to life. By creating a physical and interactive timeline of the organization, I built an experience that allowed attendees to walk through troubling and hopeful moments and add their voice to IJM's story.
This timeline was supplemented by various other experiential created under my management such as a fair trade market, a dynamic photo booth, and a breakout room discussion with undercover investigators. These pieces transformed the space and invited our attendees and supporters to have an up-close look at work that often feels distant.
